Next we have one of the pioneers in the drive to promote green hotels in the US, the Kimpton Hotel chain. The Hotel Triton, features an extensive recycling program with most paper products coming from recycled materials. With water saving faucets, filtration systems and air purifiers which lessen the need for extensive environment control measures as power guzzling air conditioners that also contain hydrocarbons. The Inn By the Sea, Cape Elizabeth, Maine, has native plants that decorate the surrounding landscape lessening the need for watering and fertilizer use. All lighting fixtures have been replaced by fluorescent lights which not only consume less electricity but produces more light than traditional incandescent bulbs. Their line of bathroom supplies which is sold to the hotel guests supports environmental groups as they aid in preserving the natural world.
