Asheville Green Cottage and El Monte Sagrado

March 10th, 2010 · No Comments

montesagrado.jpgasheville-green.jpgThe Asheville Green Cottage is green but the name goes deeper than the color of the moss and trees that decorate the rustic looking cottage as it blends in with it’s natural surroundings. They use organic mattresses from natural latex; eat organic fruit which is grown locally, organically produced wool and cotton used for their towels and covers along with fair trade coffee and tea. Almost all of the place is organic and it shows with the rustic and eye cooling scenery.

The El Monte Sagrado, Taos New Mexico, takes green a step further for being located in semi-arid NM water is everything for everybody. The hotel re-uses all, and they mean all (everything) by collecting excess rainwater that comes from the lawn and all the other used water is treated with UV rays and then run through a proprietary filtration system before being re-used back into the system. The structure itself is made form ‘gun ash” which has similar appearance to adobe but is actually power plant ash treated to become building materials.
