The almost century old Algonquin first opened doors in 1908 in one of New Yorks most fashionable districts frequented by actors and writers of the time. The Algonquin has maintained the Edwardian charm through multi-million dollar refurbishments and upgrades of the already historic hotel. Considered to be one of the Ten Most Historic Hotels, it was one of the very first hotels in the New York Area to use electronic keycards, air conditioning and smoke detectors that set the standard that is now common with all hotels all around the world. The Historical Algonquin remains one of Americas best hotels, the hotel of the legends of film and art.
