The hotel is conveniently located right at the beginning of the entry to the Visitor’s Center of the Historical Colonial Williamsburg that dates back to the 18th century. Taking a stroll down the historic area does indeed take you back in time when the budding America was growing to become one of the most powerful countries on earth. The 200 year old location is set right besides a 40-acre pine forest which keeps the cool air as the morning mist smells great with the scent of pine. That does not however reflect the modern amenities of the resort which is considered to be one of the best. The resort is part of the many buildings that form the historic site, taking you to a place where the old is preserved and can be enjoyed in it’s former glory and where the modern amenities simply gives it that hint of life back home as you enjoy the Williamsburg Historical Site.

The Lodge is one of America’s Historic hotels but sadly it was victim to the devastating 2005 fires that went thought the area leaving much devastation. The Lodge has managed to re-open part of it’s previous splendor besides Placid lake, the main building has broken ground last March and is undergoing needed repairs due to damage form the fires. The private log and timber cottages have opened partially and were first built in the 1920’s and have since been renovated to accommodate king and queen sized feather beds. Rustic furnishings, large stone furnaces and wet bars are some of the old mixed in with the conveniences of the new bundled into one unforgettable getaway. Enjoy the tranquility of Lakeside dining and sleeping as you are awakened by birds native to the region.
